If you're wearing braids or other protective hairstyles to grow or retain length it's very important to keep your ends trimmed or you'll experience a lot of shedding and or breakage when you remove your protective hairstyle.
According to Brooklyn, New York hair professional Gillian Garcia, owner of Gillian Garcia Artistry, she recommends if you are natural (no chemicals in your hair) that you trim your ends every quarter (3-4 months). If you have a relaxer, she recommends you can trim every 6-8 weeks.
Of course we recommend that you consult with a licensed hair professional, but just in case you don't have access to a licensed hair professional, you could adapt Gillian's recommendation(s) into your hair regimen.
